I know that everyone that is a fan of Harry Potter has counted down the months, weeks, days, and hours until the next movie came out. I also know that they were hoping that something better was coming, with more integrated graphics, less things left out, and more things left unchanged. So me and a friend, dressed in full Potter regalia (pictures of which I shall take and post later because I didnt have a camera ready at the time) tramped down to the theater to see if what you, me, and just about every other Potter fan were hoping for came true. I think they did well. Better graphics, better sound, and a much more unchanged storyline, although not unfortunately they did change a few things. Not unfortunately I say? Yes. Their changes actually made the story, in my opinion, somewhat better. But before I get into that, I must talk about the graphics
The graphics were wonderful. They were quite believable and were much less cartoonish and more integrated that the last movie. Hermiones transformation did look somewhat real. I unfortunately just missed the polyjuice potion sequence but I came in time to see her in cat form. I didnt miss the quiditch though, which I am thankful for. It was amazing! It was not only more realistic but much more exciting too! I was at the edge of my seat watching the part with the rogue bludger with all the dodging in between the rafters and the bludger nearly hitting Harry where the sun dont shine.
The sound was much better, I didnt really notice the pod race music during the quiditch scenebut maybe that was because I was paying attention to the bludgerill get back to you on this.
Now about the changesyeah, yeah Im usually like you. I hate it when they change things. But you know what? It was ok this time. Yeah, yeah, I see you. Youre preparing to come at me with weapons and such. But I stand by my decision. Unfortunately the new characters (Lucius and riddle) werent what I was expecting. They werent quite right. They didnt have sharp enough features in my opinion. Not even Lockhart had it right, although Kenneth Branaugh did a splendid job as Lockhart. But they pulled the story together seamlessly. You even think Lucius is actually going to kill Harry in the ending scene. Somewhat unfortunately he doesnt anyway, Snape was as wonderful as ever, he truly did a splendid job at throwing Lockhart across the room in the dueling club. Oh, and another thingThe parseltongue sounded like Elvish. Rons panic during the spider scene was priceless. "Can we panic now?". Rupert Grint did a terrific job this movie. His fear almost seemed genuine. Truly enjoyable. The last scene was a bit much in my opinion. They all get up and clap when Hagrid walks into the room after coming home from Azkaban. It was way too cheesy. Goyle (or CrabbeI can never tell them apart) earned a chuckle for getting up to clap and then Draco pulling him back down. Draco was marvelous. You could really see the malice in his and his fathers eyes. Truly wonderful. So also was all the jokes. They werent as forced as in the last movie, and in face come rather easily and are so integrated with the rest of the script that its almost hard to catch thembut when you do they bring a guffaw or two. Moaning Myrtle was awesome and dead on (pun intended). Overall this movie pleased me and kept me quite entertained.
